That was nice of them!

I just received an email from Players Only telling me that they’ve credited my account with 50 gold chips (normally earned through the frequent player rewards scheme on the Cake network of which Players Only Poker is a member) as part of a special promotion. The catch – I have to give any unused gold chips back after a week, but anything I win with them during that period I can keep! So there’s going to be a slight revision to my rules – gold chips can be used to pay entry fees in special gold chip tournaments and sit’n'gos, so that’s what I’m going to be doing.

And so it begins…

Hi! Welcome to my little blog where I’ll be chronicling my attempts to make $10,000 in a year playing online poker. However, to make it a little more challenging I’ll be setting myself the following rules:

  • I can only play according to a specific strategy that I originally wrote for a friend of mine who was fed up constantly losing money. More about this strategy at a later date.
  • Apart from the freerolls, the only games I can play are full ring NL hold’em ring games.
  • I must start with $0 and I’m NOT allowed to make any deposits! I’ve got to initially fund myself by winning money in freerolls, and the strategy I’m using wasn’t designed for tournaments.
  • I can only play at one site.
  • Any money I make from this site (referrals, advertising revenue etc) don’t count towards the total.

Got that? Good. The site I’ll be using for this challenge is Players Only Poker. I’ve chosen this site for a number of reasons, but mostly because I can get 33% rakeback (more about rakeback later), they have regular freerolls and there should be an adequate number of opponents at most times of the day. Also I hadn’t used my Players Only account so there was no money in it, which helps me keep all this seperate from my regular online poker playing.

So what do you think? Reckon I’ll make $10,000?
